I really like one of my instructors this semester. He is very famous, but he is very nice.
Before going to his class, I was so afraid. Just like the traditional students...be good and respect him a lot. I dared not to talk to him too much..Whenever I saw him, I just smiled. But, I think, I like him after the first class....
He has the schedule and assigns students to work together according to students' willingness. Though there are a lot of reading for this class, he thinks about international students. There will be a blank period of time after reading 2 or 3 books or topics. So that we can have much detailed discussion and try to catch up with the reading as well...It's very helpful for international students. I like this idea a lot. Besides, he also said everyone has the English deficiency, not only the international students. How come every American thinks that everyone in the world needs to speak English? So Americans are people who have the strongest English deficiency. When I heard this, I smiled. :) Finally, someone understand what we are struggling with...ha!
Today is the last class...He said there are 8 tasks for us, educators in every field, to accomplish. Among them, the idea of knowing who you are strikes me the most. He said we are here because somebody sacrificed for us. We are standing on others' shoulders. We need to identify this and work harder. In addition, before opening the dood, we need to think about who we want to go with us into the world behind that door. As educators, we all have great responsibilities.
I think his talk reminds me of the reason why I want to come here for further study. I really want to change something!! I really need to thank my parents who tried their best to give us a better environment and a better life. Maybe there are still some more people who helped me to be here...I thank you all...and, indeed, I gotta work harder in order not to make my own dreams come true, but also to give back what I have got from others to them!!
